I've inherited a cheap Celestron 60mm refractor with a .965" focuser. Now, I have better scopes but I thought it would be a good experiment to see how serviceable I can get this. There are no included eyepieces but I have extra 1.25" plossls if I can get a hybrid diagonal for the scope. Telescope Warehouse has a Meade for about $13, which is about as cheap as I'm likely to find anywhere (and right now finances are tight). Orion and Apogee also have hybrid diagonals for $25. If the quality is substantially better maybe I should go with one of them, unless there is another option I don't know about.

I'd go with a mirror diagonal if you can find one. The Orion version is a prism diagonla and while they will work, they tend to dim the image much more than a mirror diagonal. OPT has a Celestron hybdrid mirror diagonal for $25....that would be my choice here.
