March and April mark the time of year when many amatuer (and pro?) astronomers go out and attempt to view all Messier objects in a single night. Here is a link to The American Association of Amatuer Astronomers web page www.astromax.org/aa01006.htm that has a link to many observing programs including Messier objects. The pdf format list contains the MM objects as they should be observed, their descriptions and an observation log. I personally am not a member at present, but am seriously considering it. I plan on attending a Messier Marathon this weekend and if I survive will post an observation report.

I wonder if all 110 can be seen from under the Great Chicago Nebula that is our sky?

Yes Joe they all can be seen under our skies You just need the right filters. I still tell you to come out to the burbs and do some Observing.
