I got some scope time in 11/6. I tried for M92 and M33, but no luck. But, I did not completely miss out. I bagged two other Messier Objects.

Orion XT8 1200MM
Viewed at home at 34X at first with Orion XT8. At first M15 looked like just an out of focus star. Jumped up to 48X and it was obvious I had my object. At 200X the cluster was much larger, yet there were still no pinpoint stars as I see in M13 at 200X. I used Pegasus and Equuleus as quideposts.

Viewed at home with my Orion XT8 at 48X only. Starting with the higher magnification intially made M2 much easier to find than M15. I did not get to look at any other powers because the neighbors came home and turned their porch light on.

This is #49 and #50.
The Peoria Astronomical Society gives a certificate for hitting 50.
I hope they spell my name right.

How cool that you bagged your first 50! Bravo!

I wonder what our fellow astronomers do below the equator? Certainly there are Messier objects that cannot be observed there. They probably feel they same way about us northern types never observing the Magellan clouds or targeting our closest star...Alpha Centuri.

But really, I think our skies are much more interesting in content...

I'd have to agree our skies probably are more interesting.
But, what I wouldn't give to see the Southern Cross and the Magellanic Clouds.
