[Chicago Astronomer - Astro Joe]

Dennis, of the Gateway Astronomy group of the greater St. Louis area was in Chicago over the weekend and called me up for a meet. After juggling schedules, we finally got together on a hot and muggy July night.

I went to the wrong hotel first, same chain, different location. Staying at the Westin hotel, across the street from Harey Caray's restaurtant, we shook hands and caught up on astronomical tidbits and his stay in Chicago.

Before my leave, of course I had to take a shot of the Astronomers. (He's got a 18" Obsession... )

And here is Dennis and his gracious wife, Janet.

It was great to finally meet Dennis and catch up on our lives in and out of astronomy. He joined the Chicago Astronomer early on, and maybe...since a solar eclipse will pass over the St. Louis area, he will host a viewing...

Jan and I were really glad to meet you, Joe. After trading posts and e-mails for so long it's really a pleasure to finally shake hands, share stories and sweat a bit in the mid-summer Chicago heat.
