Taking the opportunity of a free evening and promise of good cloud formations, I ventured out to the lakefront and took a great many shots of the skyline and met many nice people. I had the telescope in the car, but did not set it up, but rather concentrated on photography instead of astronomy.
The entire Chicago skyline cannot fit into a single frame, and with a wide angled lens, the fish-eye effect comes into play, with horizom line curvature. So a stitching procedure is called for. And the results were ok...

Near the upper left of the image, Venus is displayed over Chicago...and somewhere, someone is finding love in the big city.
I didn't plan to take a pana shot, so the leveling of the tripod wasn't optimum, and had to nudge the three images to like each other in post processing. Next time will be a better prep and results.
I have misplaced my polarizer lens and the results would have been much more striking, but I like it regardless.
It was a good night with the Canon Powershot S3...
