The final episode of Enterprise is scheduled to air in May of 2005. I am rather saddend to see it go, as I found it comforting knowing that it was there.

I wonder where it will leave off. The next episode will introduce the beginnings of the Federation which will be interesting.

Enterprise tried to do too much, and as a result...not do any of them well. I personally don't think that it kept with Trek canon and brought in useless storylines. But regardless...I still will miss it.

How long until the next Trek incarnation?

I think Trek already was in a state of decline with Voyager. If there is another incarnation of Trek, it probably won't be for several years.

Hopefully it will be a different company. They need to get rid of the current crop of producers/writers and start fresh as with Battlestar Galactica, which is quite different from its previous incarnation.

Braga, Berman and company have run Trekdom into the ground with the level of incompetence shown by O'keefe as former NASA Director. Could they all be related?

I like all incarnations of Trek, but only really appreciate Voyager more now than during it's first run, as I thought it muddled thru. I like the Janeway story lines as she confronted the many violations of trust by her crew, and how she delt with it, alone in the Delta quadrant.

I found the DS9's story too intricate for my feeble mind to grasp. Dominions, Founders, Cardasians, Ferengi etc....there were just too many players occuring at the same time for me to comprehend.

This version of the Trek story, Enterpise, answered some questions we all had, but I felt it could have been explained better. I like Bakula and felt he did a good job, and there was a time in the story where he showed as Captain, an ugly and dark side as the fate of the Earth was at stake. They overplayed the Xindi story I think, spent too much time there at the expense of unraveling the history of Starfleet.

What I always wanted to see was an episode where nothing happened. A day where we get to see the inner workings of the crew and ship. What certain controls do, what the maintenace team does...even what the floor moppers and recyclers do. People and activities we never see.

Several years for the next one? Where would it start up again? With the Columbia or zoom way ahead and focus after the Riker Command, where Trek cannon is open and virginal? What about a Starfleet JAG or CSI?

It's certainly different.

It has been pointed out to me that Deep Space Nine was unique in Trek in that it depicted on a regular basis commerce and trade (and profit motive!) in space (which I'm convinced will be the ultimate driving force towards humankind's true colonization of the final frontier). Contrary to Captain Kirk's "We don't use money!" (ST IV), the demand for hard currency is very real out there.

I did follow most of Voyager (missed some episodes from the first and second season), but I lost interest in Enterprise sometime around the middle of the second season.

I do not know for a fact that it will be several years until the next Trek, only that if we hope to see one free of Brannon/Braga/Berman (a "B" production all around) we will have to wait until they have moved on to other things, and that Paramount can hire a new crew or even sell the franchise. New Zealand has been producing some nifty stuff (a la Farscape) in recent years, and it's not unthinkable that they could breathe new life into the concept.

Without the traditional restrictions, such a series focus would depend alot on social and world events. Assuming there is still the Star Trek fan base, they will need to be open to something new in tone and concept than the cookie-cutter plots and characterizations which they've been fed for so many years. This may be another reason for having to wait too.
