Chicago Astronomers...Time to step up and Defend the Hubble Telescope
The Hubble has provided us great images and sights unseen. It has the potential of many more years of operation. As Astronomers, you have the obligation to try and save the instrument from destruction.
We are not in a vacuum, and as citizens of this great country, we are responsible for directing our representatives of our desires.
To voice our great shock and disapproval of the decision to scuttle the Hubble Telescope, please do contact your local Representative, and let them know of the great crime that's about to occur...
Statement Of Senator Mikulski On Necessity Of Hubble Servicing Mission
“It is essential that we have a safe and reliable servicing mission to Hubble that is consistent with the Gehman Commission and the National Academy of Sciences. I will continue to advocate for this mission: I led the fight to add $300 million to NASA’s budget last year for a Hubble servicing mission, and I plan to lead the fight again this year. This is what the American people expect and deserve.”
Where are the rest of our elected officials on the fate of the Hubble? She is the first one has has always spoke for the Hubble and it's accomplishments. I think she deserves our support from the Chicago Astronomers.
