Holy crap! I gotta tell ya, I can't believe THAT is the SN! It is so freaking bright. I just assumed that it couldn't be the SN based on how bright and far away it was from the core.

Wow! That was really a lot brighter than I expected. I updated iskywatch as well. On another note... That field we were in last night was great! If it werent for the full moon the skies would have been the darkest Ive seen in around the Elgin area.

Perhaps we can coordinate the Draconids on October 8th.

I'd be up for that, Rich. Unfortunately, it looks like the moon will be getting close to full status again that night, washing things out.

That's right.... I forgot that it was observe the moon night!

Even better! Maybe we can do a collaborative "Observe the Moon Night" outreach event. I gotta check with my wife first though. She's going on a girls' vacation to NYC around that time, during which I will be the sole child care provider for my daughter. If that's the case, I wouldn't be available for any sort of late-night event unless I can make alternate arrangements for her care.

Different telescopes, different exposures and different results. I kept my ISO low and exposure time limited, so as not to saturate the sensor with the glow of the Light pollution...but it also left me with four stars and a core - and not as bright. Mine is the tightest FOV, Bill's the widest...and both Bill & Robb kicked and pushed up their ISOs.
