Well guys after my day in the garden having a coyote run 2' behind me while I was pickng my tomatos and pepers it was good see the stars and the summer Milky Way in her full glory. The coyote decided to bed down in the corn patch and I didnt know it. After he ran out I called Bill to tell him I no longer was going into the garden without having something with me as I have been warned many times to have it with me.
Back to the sars: They were so big and bright and just everywhere. I saw the dust lanes in the Milky Way. God what a beautiful sight it was. I didnt bring out any of the scopes as Im getting over a back injury but saw so many fuzzies I lost track. We had hazy skies from the heat but it was still worth it. As I was sitting there I heard the coyotes calling, Laramie calling accross the road, the cows, Owls, an Eagle or two, Hawks,
I really hope you guys come down here to visit and check out my skies. I think you will really be happy you made the trip.
Dont worry about the coyotes they really hate people. I scared him more then he scared me. I just caught him off guard. We fixed the electric fence so he cant get back in there.
On a side note Joe you remember my rant and rave about "men" telling me I dont belong doing Astronomy. Well yesterday I found out I recieved another cert. This one for Public Outreach. I havent gotten it yet, will let you know when it arrives. I will finally be awarded for my dedacation to teaching Astronomy to the PUBLIC and those few "A**HOLES" who said I should not be doing this can just kiss my butt. Joe Im sorry but please understand why I am really proud of this one. YES I will say this one I am bragging about.. This was 13 hours of teaching in pain, showing the night sky, helping Girl Scouts earn their badges, Giving the inner city (Quincy ) kids have a night out in the country. Encouringing kids to expand their horizons to places they have never seen before. Taking them to a place they didnt know was there. I only wish they did this long before now. As those of us that do public outreach events are the front lines to bringing Astronomy to the people and helping maybe that one person find out thats what they may want to do for fun or for life. After all how did any of us get into Astronomy. I know I got into it but how did the rest of you? What made you buy that first scope?
