Hi Guys,

I guess the big question I have always had in reguards to this is- How do they know what the Big Bang sounded like when None of us were there? I do realize they can find out alot of things in the past of our Solar System. I know they have learned alot about it, like how New Stars form, how Black Holes are created, how Black Holes work, but can someone please tell me how they can say this is how the Big Bang sounds like if we werent there to listen to it. Just a silly Astronomer asking a simple but hard question.

Well...

....first, I know that the signal they used to use to pick up this sound was at 1420 mH, which is what they were using when they were searching out for extra terrestrial life a while back.

And everything in the universe generally gives off a low hum, a resonation of some kind, due to the radiation. And radiation always leaves traces of itself behind.

I remember that when they picked up that sound (I read this a while ago) that it had to be seperated from not just the sound of the big band, but the sound of the center of our galaxy moving around, and the center of our solar sytem floating around.

I think that is about as far as I can go with that, without my head exploding. Some of the details perplex me as well.

I think it went BANG!!!! Kinda like the ships in scifi movies exploding in a vacuum. It's amazing how sound travels in space. ;D

Hey Guys,

I have wondered since you put this up here if this sound theyhave heard is really the Big Bang. How are we ever going to know the truth. I am not saying they are lieing about it but because none of us were there at the time how can they saw for 100% pos its right. It makes you wonder.

Well, it's really Cosmos C.S.I. It is extrapolated from what is known presently, and best guessed, (as most theory is), as to the sound of creation.

And like Steve,(Big Ten Inch), said, there's the vacuum factor as well. No air, no sound. But it would make for boring space wars.

Also, we never heard the entire Earth's population yak at the same time, but we can make a good guess about what it may sound like.

Side note: There are holes in the Earth that are artificially made that go down...what seems like forever - bottomless. One is called "Mel's Hole" in Washington State. The military took it over from a private citizen, and is now a restricted area. It is even blocked out in satellite imagery. They allegedly dropped a microphone down one of these holes, and recorded what is said to be screams and howls of "lost souls"...perhaps the sounds of hell! But that is quite farfetched. But the hole isn't.
