Yesterday I got a phone call to do a very special star party for the Easter Seals Annual Summer Camp. Last year we went down and did a small one because our friend asked us to go. I had a blast and made some of the campers happy to see another world they really didnt know was there. We have a camera system hooked up to our scope so we can do live feed to a tv screen. I didnt think much of it this year knowing camp was comming up. I was told they were talking about it all year and really wanted us to come back. This time they have a night planed just for us. The campers and their helpers asked for us to come back so they called us and asked us to do it. We said "yes" as this was one the reasons we got the system.

Just thought I would share this with you all.

It's a nobel endeavor offering to share the skies with people interested and especially with those a bit less fortunate. Always a good thing...

The video system is cool, as it let's the group participate and is good for instruction, but I find that it takes away from the personal relationship one has with a celestial object. There's something about intercepting and allowing the actual photons, that traveled great distances, to enter the eye and see for one's self.

Can't get enough of it.

Well Joe when you cant get up to the ep and you still want to view or experence what we see the only way is by the camera. Many people enjoy the system greatly as they can view for a while, get questions answered, or if you cant walk to the scope. This was the reason we got the system. I am thrilled that it is being used to what we intended. I will drive about 3 hours for this party ut it will be worth it as we are the only thing goiing on that night. So a captive audience is awaiting us.
