Well, it's about that time of year. The time where I decide to waste more of my money on this useless hobby. I can't believe you guys talked me into this in the first place.
Okay, here's the good news. Well, for my wife anyway. She's finally found the house she wants, so we're probably moving in a month or so. Which doesn't bother me, I can live in a cardboard box. The thing that bothers me (bad news) is the trees. The view isn't the same as the one where we're at now, but it's okay. The house faces south, and there's a two-car garage, so I can leave the scopes setup all the time and just wheel them out whenever I want. The view isn't too bad, I can easily get a few hours of clear viewing in between the trees. Plus, the backyard is not too big, and there's trees back there that pretty much block out almost the entire northern sky. But, that's okay I guess, since the northern sky is kinda boring anyway. The house is really nice, though, and it's got a great kitchen. Which is good, since I like to stuff my face. Hopefully, I can talk the boss into me chopping a few trees down. Of course, the really bad news is that there's a street light right in fron of the driveway, off to the left. Hopefully, it won't kill my views, but I'm sure it throws a nasty halo of light everywhere.
Now comes some news that's either good or bad, I haven't decided yet. I am selling my AT80, and have already sold the AR6 OTA and the case. My plans, if they go the way I want, is to get an Astro Tech 102ED. If that happens, I might sell the Orion achro, too. So, it's probably bad news that I sold the AR6, since it was a great scope, but I haven't been using it lately, and it's time for a change. The AT80, well, that's a different story. I want to sell it to fund the 102ED, but, dang, it's such a nice scope. But, the 102ED is probably way better, so it's not too hard to let go.
And, still more "good news, bad news"...
I had bought a new (to me) camera on eBay. It was the next model up from the one I have. I have the Fuji S5000, and bought the S5100. They are virtually identical except for a few changes. The S5100 has the ability to take up to 15 second exposures, the S5000 only went to 2 seconds. And, the S5100 had a 640x480 video option, the S5000 only had 320x240. But, alas, even though the newer camera took some awesome pics, it had a hot pixel area in it, so it's up for sale. I bought a new, Fuji S6000fd, which is way better than the other two, since it's new, and it's got better features.
The funny thing about that whole thing is that the hot pixel probably wouldn't bother anyone else, and most people probably wouldn't even see it. But since I knew it was there, I couldn't look past it.
Here's a good example...
This is what it looks like after I fix it...
But, I really don't want to fix every picture I take. It gets a bit tedious. So, I figured get rid of the camera, maybe the other one, and buy something new. Plus, the new camera can take up to 30 second exposures, has the 640x480 vid size, and has manual zoom. Plus, it's got Fuji's "Face Detection", which will be good for regular day-to-day pictures. Now all I have to do is wait for it to be delivered. God, I'm so impatient.
