Yesterday I was talking with my Indian friend about the progress of India in the field of science and he told me that India is progressing very fast. He also claimed that it is India who discovered water on the surface of the moon for the first time. 

I wanted to double check this... Kindly tell me if this is true? And if it is true can you provide some details?
