Fellow Astronomers and Space Enthusiasts...
For some years now, I have had the great pleasure of maintaining relationships with subscribers and members of the "Chicago Astronomer" via newsletters, website, answering questions, notifying people of astronomical events and sharing views through my telescope at the lakefront. Your emails of appreciation, commentary and curiosity are all welcomed and are a pleasure to receive. Keep them coming!
In response to requests for more direct contact and updated information, The Chicago Astronomer was created in May of 2004 and offers this forum to all Amateur Astronomers regardless of skill or experience, and others interested in the activities and dance of the heavens.
Meant originally for Chicago area residents, it has gained worldwide participation and media attention. If you are not in the Chicago area, that's ok...this forum welcomes you too... as the intrigue of astronomy is shared worldwide by anyone who has looked up at the sky and wondered.
As a certified Adler Planetarium Telescope Operator, I meet many interesting individuals who desire more information and contact with the astronomical community. I welcome all here and at your service.
You are welcomed to post your questions, comments and any other astronomical related subjects. Please do register and fill out a profile to make use of the many options available to you at this forum.
As we are all part of a special and noble group, I know we shall all behave in a civilized manner while posting and responding to posts. Opinions and sentiments on our many topics are fine, but membership bashing, flaming and ridicule is not. Please respect the beliefs and posts of others and all will be fine. Some have violated this simple civil rule and no longer part of the Chicago Astronomer family. I really hate to ban anybody, but will to protect our membership...
You may contact me by clicking on my name anywhere in this forum, use the personal messenger option, or email me at: chicagoastronomer@email.com
The newsletters shall still go out, and a archive website is forthcoming, but this forum allows all of us to interact with one another and share common interests.
Thank you all for your support and participation. Enjoy the forum and let us together celebrate the mystery and joy of the heavens.
Respectfully,
Joe Guzmán
