To avoid any conflicts with my work schedule and a favorable Moon, I'm targeting Saturday, January 17 for an observation of Comet Lovejoy with my local atheist group at Conway Observatory. Mercury will be past its best by then, but just barely. I will try to point it out. Any local Chicago Astronomers interested in attending are welcome.
