The uv/ir filter was removed for improved HA sensitivity.

You mean you physically removed the in-line UV/IR filter in your old camera?

Daaang...hardcore.

Let's see how it performs. It will be interesting to see the comparisons with the modified and unmodified cameras. Some site charge big bucks for the mod...

Lol, yep, I had Pro-Tech camera shop by Irving and Pulaski pull out the filter for me! They have cheap Canon batteries too. I paid $130 for the extraction and I got the 10D back the next day! Waiting on good weather and clear skies...

Did they understand the purpose of the removal...or they did just do what you wanted...?

At first the tech explained that the autofocus and the viewfinder focus would be off and was reluctant to do it. I told him it was for astro use only and I could focus with the scope, only then he agreed to do it! By the way, focus is an issue with some lenses. I had to mod a Pentax lens also. That one I did myself an now focus is not a problem with that specific lens!
