I finally had the 12" out camping over the week of the 4th, it's been too long. I got one of them silver sock things from Orion, red felt lined inside, and left it set up for the week on the camp site putting that over it when I wasn't using it, that worked out GREAT! Once I flipped on the green laser, my neighboring campers were all curious what I was up to. Saturn of course gave a great showing, and once I had some alone time, it was great to just sky surf into the deep.
I did figure out that it's better to set the Intelli dob part up using the green laser. With the the laser on it allowed me, through the eyepiece, to pinpoint aim at the initial two stars for the Intelli thing to get it's bearings. I had never tried using the laser to set that up, and it was the first time I got it to read a 0.0 on set up meaning I had things EXACTLY aimed PERFECTLY!
Here's hoping for clear skys again this weekend! ;D
