Charter One Pavilion Stage at Northerly Island Expansion is a go

- Bad news for Urban Astronomy -

The obtrusive Charter One Pavilion Theater set-up at Northerly Island has been given the go-ahead and will now accommodate another 20,000, (30,000 in total), concert goers to the area - effectively locking down the general area to museums, street parking and urban astronomy.

The Adler Planetarium and the Chicago Astronomer will be adversely affected.

Lovers of the night sky will be shut out during these upcoming concert dates and the upgraded lighting will drown out the sky of all but the brightest celestial objects.

The Chicago Astronomers will work around this obstacle.

Northerly Island is a terrible location to try to cram 30,000 people into. This is a bad idea.

There is a sliver of an entrance/exit to the venue.

In a event of an emergency...the exodus is bottle necked - first by Lynn White Drive and then Solidarity Drive then crossing Lake Shore Drive to Roosevelt...a good two miles.
