Jupiter is an object that can be seen even from the worst light polluted areas (like Chicago!) as it is the fourth brightest object in the sky. And the four brightest moons of Jupiter - the so-called "Galilean" moons- can be observed even with binoculars, though a small telescope certainly makes it a bit easier.
