Galilean satellite #3 Ganymede and its shadow will be transiting Jupiter during the early evening for North Americans on 2012 NOV 28. Ganymede is the largest Jovian satellite and casts the widest shadow. It’s not often that Ganymede transits at a convenient hour, due to its week-long orbital period and its transits currently of brief duration across Jupiter’s south polar region.
