Hello all, thanks for the great site. I am not new to astronomy just to this site. I have been somewhat of an island with regards to learning over the 8 years or so. I've struggled with astrophotography with a little success. I currently use a Celestron ASGT mount with mostly Megrez 80mm refractor for camera work, and sometimes bring out my Celestron 9.25 cat but she maxs out the current mount visually although have managed a few camera shots. I was intrigued when reading a different forum with regards to Joe's ability to overcome the light pollution in the area which is extremely frustrating for me. I have a 10" dob that I made (not mirrors) but it's rather heavy... Would be nice to take it to a dark site sometime. Anyways, thanks for the invite and looking forward to sharing. Jim

Welcome to the Chicago Astronomer.
Nice refractor and should provide good imaging....and I like the C 9.25"s. best view of Saturn was through one of our members 9.25.
I can't say that I "Overcome" the light pollution factor, but have done everything I could to reclaim darkness in the tube...and it shows with better contrast and shaded corrector plate. Too many people falsely think that because we are in a metropolitan setting that practical astronomy is futile. Not so and demonstrate to our fans regularly.
I invite you to attend our Chicago Astronomer star parties and activities, as you are not too far. Bring your scope of choice and share the skies with us. And.... Send me your email address and I'll include you in the email notifications I send out.
Enjoy the the forum, pipe in with your comments and contribute to the astro community.
