It’s nearly time for my monthly New Moon spotting challenge, which presents some difficulty when still near the time of the autumnal equinox. Are you up to it? A few North Americans may sight the 1.5-day-old Moon on October 16. More should be able to see Diana’s Bow on October 17.
My detailed article describing the waxing crescent Moon’s first appearance of the coming lunar month appears under the links for my preview graphics at www.CurtRenz.com/moon
Photos and descriptions of the young Moon would be welcome additions to this thread. Please include your location, date, time and time zone.
Below is a photo that I took from Arlington Heights, Illinois of the Moon aged 2.1 days on 2011 OCT 28 at 18:18 CDT.
