My name is Marie, I'm Polish and live in Chicago. I am early-stage beginner in astronomy. I have a telescope (birthday gift), but it is still in a box. I'm hoping to open it soon, but right now I am trying to gather as much info as possible, I'm trying to understand the sky better, I'm learning how to look and where to look with my eyes before I start "goofying" around with some sophisticated equipment. I am very anxious to meet other members.
During the day I have fun with my two little kids. I do accounting for non-profit organization, I also study business administration/accounting.
My other passions include: theory of literature and history.

I used my trusty 4.5" Meade/Polaris reflector for many many years bringing the cosmos closer to me and had a great time with it.
Here is a pic of it from 2005...!
I built up the Chicago Astronomer with that scope, bringing great views to our early visitors and all manual. It brought lunar eclipses, conjunctions, Jupiter's bands, Saturn's rings, star clusters , nebulae and a host of other distant objects - directly to me in that 4.5".
You'll have a great time with your scope Marie and we will assist you in getting the best use from it.
Bring it along next time.

Yak she mash!
These guys taught me everything I know Joe handed me a card when I was at an Adler After Dark party that my wife got us tickets for since I was always talking about getting a bigger scope (I had a scope I got for $10 at a garage sale at the time.) Of course Joe was there next to a monster of a scope I had to look through, he handed me a card leading me here after I started asking him questions, and the rest is (very recent) history ;D
Ask these guys anything! You'll see me doing the same, good thing about here is that no one calls you out even when you ask simple stuff that may not seem so simple at the time.
