Saturn’s opposition and closest approach to Earth for its current apparition will occur on 2012 APR 15. Tonight for Chicagoland observers it will rise at 21:49 CDT and about four minutes earlier each succeeding evening. I’ve written a more detailed description of Saturn’s current apparition, and created numerous preview charts including a ring tilt graph.
