Perhaps it was the concern that the nearly 14 ton Russian Mars probe would land smack-dab on the White House or maybe they just came to their senses, the US State Department today said it would indeed work with the European Union and other countries to develop a formal space code of conduct.
Meh. The US just wants to make sure everyone else plays by "the rules" now that it is no longer the dominant space-faring nation it once was. Now that we have a new space master (cough, cough China) in the world, the US wants to be able to point to the rules and call foul whenever they do anything we don't like.
