Now Joe, You do realize that If you put that on top of your garage and do your observing from up there you won't get to chat with all those people that wander by.

I saw the ad early this summer too. I think it's the same guy that has this scope for sale. He has dropped the price on that as well.

Public observation sessions are great, meeting lovelies and astro enthusiasts.

But...

Quiet time alone, with the cosmos is wonderful too, especially for astrophotography, testing and discovery.

Both have a place with me.

No wonder he's dropped the price on it. That scope is obviously defective. Not NEARLY enough finder scopes on it! How could you see anything at all?

That guy is awesome. Although I just showed my wife that picture of him in his dome, not realizing the quote he's got on it would get me in a bit of hot water... I'm sure I'll meet him one day. I'm around there all the time.

Awe come on Joe, let's put that on top of your garage. I've got a mad case of cabin fever, a two place motorcycle trailer in my garage that may be big enough to haul that thing, and if not my brother lives a couple miles away with an old car trailer that can haul it. (You could probably even get it for less if you prove you're worthy of his work.)

Getting it to your roof may be interesting, I've got a winch I can un-bolt from my garage wall that could help if things get heavy...

That set-up he has probably would cave in my roof.

I like the dome part of that set-up. If I could, I would probably get this...



Low profile, simple build and looks cool.

(Thanks for the option for the help...you too cool! Keeping you in mind when I need a propane heater and muscle!)

Torches, cut off saws, sawzalls, etc. are all available in my garage to cut that thing up like a stolen car and lighten the weight... ;D

I also have a friend with a bunch of construction equipment, an excavator would be able to get it to your roof without a problem...


... oh how I hate cabin fever (although I leave for Aruba in 11 days )

If I had $500 to burn, I'd jump at it. My first thought was to put it on a trailer, too. Of course I don't have a trailer- or a car to pull one- but those are minor details. Load it on a flatbed trailer, build a small cabin next to it for camping, and instant astronomy, any where, any time.

I can help with the towing, where's the land? I've got a 40' camper 3.5 hours north, but that's too far to tow that. (And I don't trust my brother's old car trailer to go on the expressway.)
