For my three landscape photos with the Moon and atmospheric effects taken during the current lunation, go to www.CurtRenz.com/moon
They’ll only be kept on that page temporarily. The third one down is of Diana’s Bow (3-day-old Moon) through clouds. The second is of the Harvest Moon (+ 14 hrs) through clouds. The top one was taken the following evening of the Moon rising through smoke from a wildfire 400 miles away in Minnesota.
Thanks, Patrick & Joe. I had submitted that photo to the BAUT forum, and a Universe Today assistant editor mistakenly thought it was submitted directly to Universe Today. She apologized for the mix-up, but nevertheless asked for camera details and published the photo in the UT blog.
Quite a few of my lunar photos have been accepted for publication. I realize that I cannot compete with observatories or spacecraft regarding enlarged images of astronomical objects. So I focus on landscapes that feature the Moon during twilight, often with trees or clouds in the foreground. The trick is to take many pictures during each session, but only display the best one for the public. People seem to like them. I’m glad that you do too.
I’ve slightly reorganized my Moon webpages so that one page exclusively has my lunar photos. There are currently thirteen of them. They can be seen by going to www.CurtRenz.com/moon
