Dwight Schrute digs Refractors on "The Office"
I watch "The Office" every once in awhile, usually flipping the channels in this non-cable home, and saw a telescope!
It was on the episode where the old office manager is leaving and there is a garage sale in the warehouse. Dwight has a plan in where he will trade a single push pin/tack into something big. He does indeed trade up until I see him walk with a refractor. And not a cheap flimsy 60mm either.
Usually, ignorant tv/movie directors/producers grab a cheapo 60mm refractor and pawn it off as some serious piece of astronomical equipment. Here, we have a decent mid-level telescope to examine....
It looks like Dwight is holding onto a 102mm Celestron XTL 102 Refractor .
A respectable ED scope, but it looks like someone swapped out the 1 1/2" diagonal and popped in a 2" one with a wide field eyepiece or is using an adapter....
Going from anywhere starting at $495.00 to $900.00 new, it's a steal at $150.00...
And so, Dwight trades his nice telescope for a envelope of magic beans.
