Evening all....

My 10" Zhumell came in at 7:30pm this evening and I eagerly tore into that box! The scope was well packaged and without instructions. Not that it is very difficult to assemble but it's a bit tough to balance out the bushing system they have in place. I can see the need for a rear weight system when the scope is under 35 degrees.

Collimation was so far off I thought that the FedEx guys might have played hockey with the box. The laser collimator worked surprising well. I have heard many horror stories on the net but so far so good. I guess I should pick up a Cheshire piece to really get a good idea. All thats missing now is a large bag... The ebay search begins.

That Telrad rides pretty high. I like the Rigels myself, but both work nicely - and I like right diagonals on finder scopes, as you can change eyepieces. With straight throughs, sometimes one must a be a semi- contortionist for objects at zenith.

You got plenty of aperture there, so bringing in the fuzzies will be a treat and many hours will be spent alone with the cosmos.

I hope you bring it to a Chicago Astronomer session soon and join the crew.

Congrats on the new scope!! Of course, YOU WILL bring it to Chicago Astro meet up. Should be fun to do side by sides with my 9.25 and Joe's 11!

The Internet is awesome for manuals! I keep a copy of mine on my phone for emergencies, of which I seem to have a lot.

Hey guys... Thanks for the manuals! I went out and bought a army surplus duffel bag for the ota toda so I had something to carry it tomorrow night at the shedd. Hopefully that will have a green light tomorrow. I'm looking forward to meeting you guys.
