Clark Kent uses a Refractor to Star Gaze
On a most recent Smallville episode, There was a scene with Lois Lane assembling a refractor telescope for Clark.
Telescopes on the tele always get my attention - let's see what we got...
(Let me Preface here that having a hot chick with enough interest to assemble Telescopes is hot.... #drool# )
And having a heart to heart talk around the scope is also hot...
...as is your lovely looking into your eyes with a smile in her eyes and the scope in the background...
Fortunately, they did a close-up shot on the scope...
Let's see what Clark has to work with...you know...being from Krypton and all....
Overall, this is a very modest telescope and feels like a 90mm Celestron refractor. The mount is some sort of older CG mount with wooden tripod legs. There is no option for a counter-weight and latitude degree adjust is a friction lock. The OTA has a dovetail and fits into a dovetail saddle. The mount and scope were not originally a set and looks very similar to this set-up...
And the OTA is not securely locked into the mount...!!!! - as will be seen in a short bit.
There is a missing polarscope....
...and the finder scope is very limited...7x35 or 9x35. It's also not sitting in the holder right to my liking...
It looked like the eyepiece was a 25mm plossel, but a closer gander shows a smaller exit pupil...maybe a 10mm or so. But, it's sitting much too high and not even set in the diagonal - it looks like it's plopped onto some tube sticking out of the diagonal - not attached at all.
There is also a missing slow motion control knob or cable missing from the R.A axis.
C'mon Clark!
Or is this hodgepodge assembly the well intentioned fault of Lois...who is hot by the way, and forgiven. Maybe Clark interrupted her in the assembly. Either way, Clark should replace the 90mm with a C11...
On the shaky mount....
This video segment clearly shows the loose attachment of the 90mm scope to the mount....
Enjoy the clip before it's removed by authorities....
