Yup.....that finder dovetail shoe from Bill Vorce isn't built to Vixen specs, ....not by a long shot. I bought 3, and was pretty disappointed to find that they were wider than the standard, and the dovetail tumble-home was a shallower angle.

Here is my less than elegant solution; an aluminum shim and JB-Weld.

Fine for tiddling a 114mm Bird Jones, but your solution better suits your outfit, for sure.

I needed to shim my own sub-standard dovetails as well...to keep the stem bases from slipping out - crude, but like yours... worked.

I'll be taking apart the C11 next week...yay!
My new set-ups will be sweet!

New Dovetails and bases at the Chicago Astronomer estate...

Master metal worker and Chicago Astronomer Rick met up with me and presented his all so cool replacements for my 90mm finderscope base set-up.

They are a beautiful set of precise machined work, with clearances within hundreds of an inch - if not thousands....and they fit like blocks in an Incan wall at Machu Picchu and smooth like butter! The thunbscrew hold downs provide secure torque and that finder scope ain't going anywhere...

I can't wait to start the C11 dis-assembly for cleaning and installing these beauties.
