I have seen the pics of this, but not the video.

Quite cool indeed, but the videographer needs to learn to use that tripod.

On another site, it is explained that all the contours on the craft made it's own ripple, ergo the many waves seen.

Very cool and thanks for sharing it.

Side note:

I may be a curmudgeon, but I don't dig the squeals, shouts and yells at events like this...including and especially total solar eclipses.

How grand it would be to watch and listen to a launch without the distracting insipid childlike shouts of the masses. Even more so for a grand Total solar eclipse. Some may say it adds to the excitement to the event...but there is nothing that my neighbor can do or say that would add to what I would be witnessing.

If I ever get the opportunity to watch a eclipse, I hope to be away from the crowds and observe in peace & awe - having a moment with the Universe...and not the ignorant. who must shout.

I saw the site you mentioned about each section of the rocket creating 11 observable ripples, and I think I saved the graph.

As for witnessing a launch or an eclipse, I think I would probably fall in with the masses, although I would probably limit myself to a subdued "Wow." Or maybe an excited "Wow!" Unless the experience was too powerful for words.
