hey Ya'll

Thougth Iwould give an update from the farm.

Tomorrow we start getting the back 40 ready for Hay and Soybeans. (will post pics from them doing field)

Were getting ready for the 40'x60' garden.

Taking down lots of dead wood to get our wood business going.

Doing lots of viewing sessions with the Girl Scouts.

Weve just been really busy.

Per conversation with Joe this afternoon he askedfor somenew shots of the place. So here goes.



The house from the 20 acre field side yard. You can see the neighbor up the hill, he's a 1/4 mile away.



I took this last night off the back poarch.



I told Joe about this and he told me post it. Bill bought me this wonderful 4 yo Quarter Horse for Christmas. His name iis Laramie. He is what you call a Gelding (meaning he canot get a female pregnent) I am in the process of training him. It is going slow due to a bad knee injury. He fell on frozen ground almost two months go and tore open his left front knee. We are hoping to get him to work cattle as there is alot here. The nights are getting better here, looking foward to warmer nights.

What direction is that small hill you neighbor lives on?

Perhaps you can Google satellite map your piece of Earth and point out interesting points, like where your equine sleeps and where you planning on having the garden...

Hey Ya'll

I thought I would give you all an update.

Today the rest of the garden goes in now that the manure is in.
Were getting ready to work in the one 35 acre field.
The front yard is almost ready for seeding. Cant wait for that.
Getting ready to watch the Lyrid shower and video tape the moon for flashes.

The other night we had Laramie out so I thought I would show you some better pics of him. Hope ya'll dont mind.

Were getting ready to build his round pen for training. So now I can really start working with him. This will be nice. Maybe by late spring early summer I may be on his back.

Well thats it for now. Will keep you informed as things go.

I see a bandage on his left front leg...minor injury?

Video taping the Moon for flashes is a great activity. Some are saying that fragmented Wass/Sch 78P could have fragments large enought to make quite a show as it passes by in May.

I didnt make it getting up this morning. Worked till 9pm on yard last night so I was pooped. I will tape the May event though.

As for the bandage on Laramie's leg. On Feb 17th we were running the horses back into the barn for breakfest, well the ground was frozen, he sliped-hit the ground flat on his side, slid accross and tore open his knee from one side to the other. Rushed him to the vet. Took 5 stitches to close the wound. As you can see were still doing the bandages everyday. Its finally healing up. Maybe in the next month we can stop. They are making a round pen for me to train him. Once I am riding him I'll post a pic of both of us if ya'll dont mind.

Will post more pics of the homestead once everything is growing. Have a GS event coming up on Lunar Viewing.

Well just thought I'd write to say the rain came at just the right time. we got the garden in yesterday. We planted-

Green Onions
Broccoli
Califlower
Radish's
Carrots
Potato's
Winter Onions
Rhubarb
Strawberry's
Sweet Corn
300# Pumpkins
Normal Pumpkins
Squash
Gourds
Bulb Onions
Garlic
Cabage
Green & Yellow Peppers
Jalapino Peppers

Got one of the fields replanted with Oats. Soy Beanswil go in with the Oats and in our other field. The yard has been seeded, The Chicken Coop is here and being finished.

Now that all that is done I can finally think about some observing. Will get the 120mm dialed in so its ready for my events this summer.

What are you guys doing up north. What kind of viweing??

When I'm setting up again, I'll try to remember to call and notify you. If you do catch us, capture it and send me the screen shot please. It's more on the spur of the moment and when Steve, Bill and others prompt me on coming out.

Al Degutis is starting to catch the fragmented comet from his piece of Earth in Woodstock Illinois.

I don't know if it's bright enough for Chicago area observers to catch a peek at it, but it most certainly will be from your locale. So the time to observe it is now, and it's getting better.
