...was launched from Tanegashima Space Center on September 14, 2007 at 10:31am.

Kaguya is currently orbiting the moon, taking observations of the lunar surface with 14 different sensors. Moonbell uses data from one of those sensors, a laser altimeter, or LALT, transforming the altitude data into musical intervals.

This is quite cool.

But set the Preferences to the "Space Opera" setting and adjust from there. I prefer the deeper - more brooding sound...with the occasional high French Horns for the lunar peaks. The default of "Piano" is kinda annoying.

You know...I have been letting this play in the background whilst I do my astro work...and I'm digging it.

It's almost "Star Trek"- like...and the topography of the Moon is pretty to listen to. Every once in awhile...there is an interesting decending segment - and I click on the minimalized window to see where it's at...and see that it is plunging into a crater.

Music of the spheres....and good nerdy fun.
