Defyin' Gravity ABC Television Series - Summer 2009
It's been awhile since a space-based tv show has been on free TV...I think since "Star Trek: Enterprise"...?
I just saw a commercial on a new tv series based in space called " Defyin' Gravity" on the ABC network. Always digging space dramas, I did some research...
I think it's a silly name, and there already a movie of the same name. A Canadian based series, I don't know if I care about who sleeping with who, who suspects who in sabotage or what scandelous tidbit was discovered for backmailing a crewmate. Being called "Grey's Anatomy" in space doesn't spin my wheels. This sounds more like "Lost" in space to me.
There is a two hour premire on August 2nd. I'll watch, but not having great expectations....but let's see how much real science is intergrated.

A 13-episode adventure drama series....In the near future, eight astronauts from five countries (four women and four men) undertake a mysterious six-year international space mission covering thirteen billion kilometres. With the eyes of the world upon them - everything they do is monitored, and every emotion they feel, scrutinized - they soon discover that their real assignment is not at all what they thought.
Defyin Gravity has often been described as "Grey's Anatomy is Space" due to its sci-fi premise though told "in a female-friendly way." However, skeptics beg to differ. Podell, on the other hand, urges soap fans to give it a try since viewers can expect several hookups to ensue as the show puts the spotlight on four women and four men in space with nothing to do for six years. It's also going to be complicated as their actions reveal intimate and interconnected relationships that have a strange effect on the present.
