During the early morning hours of 2005 MAY 24 as viewed from Chicagoland, the Full Moon will occult Antares, the first magnitude star in Scorpius. For Chicagoans this will be the last nighttime occultation of a star or planet brighter than magnitude 3.5 until 2006 APR 01.

I've created a graphic previewing the event as it will be observed from the Adler Planetarium. The middle image shows the star seen through the Moon by a fictional X-ray vision. To download the graphic, click:
