Hey all,

I know things have been pretty cloudy around here (and getting colder too) but, is anything coming up? I would like to get to a star party, but I have no clue of anything going on local.....

I would like for the crew to get together for a Macholtz session. Sometime in January when it's higher and brighter.

Not local really, but we could try to organize a Comet Machholz gathering at my "homestead" on 8 Jan 2005. I say try to organize[/i] because I need to run this passed "the boss" (aka the controller, the wife, etc). Machholz should be high enough for viewing above my perimeter trees and the Moon rises at 5:47AM so it won't cause any light pollution. At that point Machholz should be a nice naked eye object in my mag 5.6 skies.

For those not familiar with my rural (dark sky) location, it's approximately 2 hours from Chicago (1.5 hours from most west and north suburbs) so it is a bit of a trek. On the plus side, we can start a lot earlier thanks to the Sun setting at 4:40pm CST. Also, I do offer a flush toilet and a garage to act as a warming center.

One of my two final classes ends next Saturday. The other drags out on Tuesday nights till Feb. It reminds me of when I had to the cut the first party early for class the next day....man was I regretting that on the way home.

Ok, it's been cloudy the last month.... any February stuff coming up....? I'm thinking this coming Saturday, Shedd Aquarium, then Adler towards the late afternoon/evening. Gonna have to be a early night, my son has a bedtime of 9pm.

How about anything going on 1-5Feb05. I will be in Chicago for the boat show and would like to do some observing in an away location. I plan to attend the CAS meeting at the Adler on Wed night.
