Hi Guys,

I am asking for some help from the members here. I am planning a Astronomy Day for the local High School I have taught at. We are planning this for most likely May and am need of Scopes with Solar Filters and some one or two who can be inside with the kids doing projects. I have a couple projects in mind. Easy to do. SO if you could please help me out PLEASE let me know. It would be in Bartlett at the High School. The game plan is Solar Observing in the Parking Lot, Demenstrations and fun inside one of the class rooms then at night go across the street to the 20" scope for some viewing.

I hope you can help. This is for High Schoolers and Grade Schoolers.

I have found that solar presentation is best with projection than with direct viewing.

At the Adler I have done the H-Alpha scope, scopes with solar filters and projection. The projection method by far gets a better reaction from the crowds. And instead of just one by one, everybody can enjoy it at the same time, and it enables the presenter to point out the sunpots and other features.

I like to put on a yellow filter to the eyepiece, as it gives it a better contrast and isn't so plain as the direct white image of the disk.

Late day solar observations are more fun, as the heat has gone down, and various aircraft, birds and clouds pass in front of the sun while projecting.

Thats fine with me. Can you do it? Let me know. I need to set up some people for this. Right now there is going to be two scopes. Im not sure if its going to be my 10" or 6" and maybe another 10" or 18". Let me know ASAP.
