Hey what are you cats planning on doing for the Lunar Eclipse on Oct 27? I propose we get together somewhere. Perhaps for the Chicago denizens, we can meet up at the Adler Planetarium? Or if people want to propose a darker, more suburban setting, that's cool too. According to Sky and Telescope, the moon will first enter penumbra at 7:06 Central Time. Who's in?

The Next Chicago Astronomer Event

Doug,

I like your enthusiasm and gung-ho!

I was planning to announce my plans next week in preparation - here in the forum and in the Chicago Astronomer Newsletter.

As always, I will be setting up by the Adler Planetarium for the Lunar event to observe and share views with the public. What I would like to do is to assemble some of us City Astronomers to set up together there, and put on a Chicago Astronomer event for us, and for those interested in a peek.

Now...details are not fixed yet, but I may be required to put on my Adler Hat and serve as a Telescope Interpreter for the Planetarium. But regardless...I shall be at the lakefront.

Dark skies are not required for this event and the public exposure for the Chicago Astronomers would be a good thing for us. I know Keith, Doug, Brian, Sarwat, Nancy and myself could potentially meet there. For the others, distance, preference and other obligations play into the participation plans and understandable.

So, yes Doug...bring your scope to the Lakefront!
