Thanks for the post. I too have witnessed an event regarding the moon, but more on that later. Many people have observed strange flashes or other movements on the moon. Mainstream astronomy downplays this, I dunno why. Please describe in detail what you may have seen and what equipment you used to see this event and when.



In my instance, I was set-up by the planetarium at my usual spot. This was during the five planet conjunction of 2002. Having captured all five, I turned my attention to the moon, which was 3/4 full. I really enjoy observing the moon, my favorite since I was a kid, it's features are not unfamiliar to me.

In a medium powered eyepiece, I had the moon centered and was concentrating on the terminator...when out of the left side of my FOV, I spotted an object - dark in color against the light of the moon - cross the from the lit side to the dark side of the moon. As it crossed over, the object transferred color from dark to light. Not that it literally changed color, but just that the contrast portrayed it as such.

I thought how cool to have caught a high flying aircraft, bird or satellite crossing just at the same time of my observation. A minute later the same object appeared again from the left, and transited across the face of the moon as before. This really caught my attention. I followed it more intently now, but could not discern a shape to it, but it was not in the confines of Earth's atmosphere. No wake, wings or or any other features were visible.

Now quite excited about this, I waited for it to appear again...and I wasn't disappointed. I moved the scope to the eastern limb of the moon, half in FOV and half in space, It made it's appearance again. I tried to see it as it approached the moon, but could not notice anything. I followed it's rather easy movement across the face of the moon, (about 7 seconds), enter the darkness and lost it two seconds later.

Now, what ever this thing happened to be, was in regular lunar orbit and had to be HUGE in order for me to have seen it. I waited for it again, but alas, it no longer returned. I spent the remainder of the session attempting to spot it again, but it was not to be. Nor have I seen anything like that since.

Sure, planes, birds and other junk in our atmosphere have passed between me and the moon before, especially if close to the horizon, but the moon in this account was high up, almost at zenith, and clear, with a clear and stable sky.

UFO? I dunno. But I don't discount it. But I did see it.

And did you call any astronomy clubs to see if anyone else saw anything?

The only natural accurance that can happen on the moon is something striking it like an asteroid or meteor.

Other than that it is one huge 1300 mile wide rock.
The usa has been there several times in the apollo missions. Lots of expierments and data has come from it along with bringing back 800 lbs. of samples.
And the conclusion ? ... One huge rock ..... with a very slight atmosphere.

Still would like to know what was used in the viewing of this collision of sorts .....

I'm still convinced that the moon is a giant rock, but anything is possible. I have cracked many an egg that I thought were hard boiled only to be surprised and annoyed.

I am thinking that when things strike the moon in one area, it causes small chain reactions which lead to the weird sightings seen in other areas. They don't happen often, but often enough to be seen by us. Something's up. I shall continue to ponder this one over another cup of tea....

Yeah, I was going to add that there should be some kind of metallic layer involved, but that just raises more questions. I was still kind of thrown by the whole moon being hollow theory.

Again, anything is possible. How long did we not know about the oceans under the surface of Europa?....actually, I still don't think we've confirmed that either.......but that is much more intriguing to investigate than digging 40 meters into the moon. We'll leave that investigation up to a wealthy civialian in 20 years!

It was about 9:00 pm,when my neighbor ran up to my house very excited,and said something has just struck the moon,I looked up and saw a huge dust ring around the moom,so I did not have time to set up my 5ft tele;so I grabed my 40x50 bionocks,and watched the dust ring expand at a very fast rate,makeing me think what ever hit the moon was rather large,because the ring,expanded and enlarged,at a fast pace!!I called my mom who is an amiture watcher too,she could not belive the size,and the way it was expanding.She agreed it had to be large or moveing very fast when it hit.I searched all over the net and could not belive that I could not find out any more INFO on the hit,so I decided to post what we all saw,and hope that someone else had taken a photo of it.my cam was out of film from the previous nights photos,Go figure!!!At least 10 to 15 people saw it and watched it expand to near nothing in about two hours,it was about gone.IT REALY HAPPENED,I HAVE NOOO REASON TO LIE,Plus I have 15 witnesses!!!!!!!

Everything resonates, I can put the end of my guitar up to anything and hit the strings. If there is enough mobility for resonation, then it will vibrate and give off the sound from my guitar, and often in the same key.

I don't like the theory that the moon is a piece of the Earth after being struck. There are several problems with this, including the claim it may have come from where the current Pacific Ocean is (doesn't equate with displacement of matter). Tests on the rocks found on the Earth haven't shown significant similarities to prove they came from the same "stuff" for lack of a better word.

That also goes for the theory that the Earth and moon were both formed at the same time, condensed together within the nebula that eventually became the solar system.

I still want to see someone dig into the moon and find out just what is there. Whether it be NASA, another country, or Best Western and the Hilton getting ready for the lifestyles of the rich and famous vacationing in the Highlands because they can, someone will figure it out. I still think there is a possibility that it may in fact have a hollow center, although only time (and funding) will tell.

I'm sure if this is the least bit true there would be more than someone in a message board saying they saw something strike the moon by the naked eye or even 10x50 binoculars.
Once i here something from .... say a more credible resourse it might be worth looking into.

Just to add to the Earth-mother, Moon-daughter theory: scientists have found that oxygen ion content in the Earth's rocks matches exactly that of rocks brought back from the Moon by the Apollo astronauts. Oxygen ions in other assorted space matter (not lunar-related) is significantly different from Earth's.

As for what might have collided with the Earth to displace such a large amount of molten matter, any speculation about that object having fragmented and formed the Asteroid Belt beyond Mars?
