The Return of the Chicago Astronomer to Steel Workers Park

Full Moon Observation Session

The Chicago Astronomer  had such a great time at Steelworkers Park this past August meeting new astro friends and sharing the skies...that we are coming back to share a Full Moon Rise over the Lake on Saturday, the 15th of October 2016.

Moonrise over the lake will be at 6:15 pm and the crew will set-up telescopes by 5:30 pm - attending to our fans till 10:00 pm.  Bring a chair, some take out and enjoy the evening with Astronomers, Telescopes and the urban sky by the Monoliths.


Steelworkers park is at 87th and the lake and quite easy to get to..

Follow the trail and look for the red lights...but get there before 6:00 pm to catch the Full Moon distorted and blood red as it peeks over the horizon....

UPDATE:

We are a go....


The weather is iffy in terms of cloud cover for this evening's Full Moon Rise over the lake.

But...

We are still a go.

Time by the lake will be bracing and the clouds just may break up enough to catch the lunar sphere.  It'll be a nice time out with friends and fans either way.
