This week, I decided to prep the crew on the upcoming Lunar Eclipse on the early morning of April 4th 2015, but also talk about all the other events when space stuff gets in front of other stuff...
First, Lunar eclipses...
A common question from eclipse lovers is why don't we get a lunar eclipse every month....? It's all about the 5 degree of deviation tilt.
Our immediate astronomical event will be the Lunar Eclipse the weekend following this meeting. We discuss the details and invite members to participate in the dance of the spheres. Two in deed did arrive early in the morning and handled the large crowds nicely, working the C11 scope...

We proceed to Solar Eclipses...
Total, partial, annular solar eclipses were explained and of our upcoming 2017 solar eclipse was discussed...
This total solar eclipse is a must to be viewed and I won't be anywhere near Chicago for this, but down south for maximum visibility and hopefully away from crowds...
We talk next on Transits & Occultations...
Who can ever forget the incredibly rare events of the Mercury and Venus transits of past years. Moments that I will never forget and that Astronomers throughout the ages had anticipated for years.
Occultations being much more common, provides a great opportunity for astronomers to observe celestial motion.
This was a jammed packed session with our members know aware of Eclipses, Transits and Occultations and next week we talk about Telescopes.
