Last minute Star PArty for the Chicago Astronomers...on a warm Summer night under the urban skies.  Weather is a solid go and the museum campus is clear and free of any annoying sports or music events.

We will set-up scopes at 7:30 pm just west of the Adler Building....and share the skies with our fans and friends till about 10:00 pm.  It will be an all lunar night for the C11, as the 1/4 Moon will provide a great visual delight along the surface terminator edge of light and dark.  Saturn of course, will be enjoyed as well.

I wish you and the gang well, Joe. I have good news that the apparent lunar disk will be much more than 25% (1/4) illuminated. If fact it will look wider than a Half Moon. It will appear as a "Two-Thirds Moon" positioned in the second quarter of a lunation. That of course makes it a waxing gibbous Moon. This will allow for even more of the lunar topography for your guests to appreciate. Indeed, 2014 SEP 03 is a well chosen night. Have fun!
