Globulars are my favorite deep sky objects, and M22, while not my favorite glob, will always be special to me. When I bought my 6" Dob in the summer of 2008 (it's still my primary scope), Jupiter was in Sagittarius. I had bought my Dob for the purpose of observing Jupiter. For almost two months, I hadn't really even considered observing anything else, mostly because Saturn was lost to solar glare about three weeks after I had first light. I had no idea that a 6", without too much light pollution, was plenty of aperture to see a great many deep sky objects. Then one night I was thinking what an awesome night it would be, if only that "cloud" stretching from Sagittarius to Cassiopeia would go away. Then I realized what it was. Well, if I could get a glimpse of the Milky Way, what could I see with the telescope? Since it was already pointing near the Teapot, I started scanning the sky with my finder scope, and soon came across M22, although I had to look it up later to find that out. I had seen M5 with the 16" R-C at Valparaiso University's observatory a few months before, so I knew I was seeing a globular. "Finding" M22 on my own, though, was so much better. M22 opened up the deep sky to me & my Dob, and I'll never forget that night in August 2008 when I saw it for the first time.
