Hey all.....

I've been throwing around the idea of building an equatorial platform for my dob lately and was wondering if anyone has experience with them.

I knew someone who had such a set-up on her 10" dob.

It worked well and it was motorized, but it was sure bulky and heavy. She did bring it out to field observations, but it was a hassle.

They seem like a hassle but it would give me a little more flexibility. Combined with my degree circle system it would almost be semi-GOTO.

I was considering this but I don't have wood tools anymore. So I would have to find a "friend" with a couple hours to spare to help cut out the parts.
