Solar imaging with the 102mm Refractor

Nothing fancy this day.

A semi clear sky invited a short imaging session...

I'm not seeing the smaller sunspot group of two days ago, but the major 1671 is doing nicely.


After putting away the gear...it was still bright and sunny by 2pm....so a few more...

I also tried out the very dark Purple Lumicon filter that I recently obtainmed -

Useless.

It's much of a too dark filter for any good - at least not for solar. We will keep it with the other filters, but I don't see much use.

That violet filter might still be useful for planetary observing.

And since it has a sort of pinkish tint to it, can always be used on the May full Moon. (The Flower/Pink Moon). I bet Rhea would enjoy that.

I have yet to try it out on Jupiter or Saturn....updates when I do.
