The Adler, (for a hefty price), can be rented out for private events, weddings and such. Flexjet had their reception at the museum on Wednesday the 19th of September and the Adler put out a call for two Telescope Operators for the night. I and fellow Adler Crew member John worked the event.
Arriving at 5:45 pm, I saw that there was a LearJet on our lawn...along with a couple of Rolls Royces. I brought out the Adler's 10" SCT and good thing. It was incredibly windy along the lakefront and the heft of the scope helped to keep it from shaking much.
There was some time to explore the Lear jet before nightfall....
Very cool.
We were fortunate to have a nice crescent Moon for our guests...
And just to the right of the Moon, was Mars...
...making a nice conjunction.
But, clouds soon rolled in from the NW and scope time was degrading fast...
John and I took the down time to enjoy the jet...
The cock pit is incredibly cramped, but fits like a glove...with tablets on either side and all digital....
As John and I stowed away the scopes, I took a Benny Hill moment...
It was a fun night working this private corded off event.
