What do you guys think about this?

I've got a huge Da-Lite rear projection screen that I attach to my garage in the summer to show movies on. There is enough material on it to allow us to create one of these sunguns and still allow me to show movies.

This design is perfect for group viewing. I'd be willing to help make a few of these units. They would be great for the CA arsenal.

I hadn't seen the Sun Gun before, but I've seen the variations of the idea. For the transit, I want to have a closed device when doing projection viewing. I was going to make a "Sun funnel."

I'm probably going with the funnel, but I love that huge image from the Sun Gun.

I have seen the cool SunGun a few years ago and dig it.

It's well worth building a similar device, not just for the June event, but to show year round.

Winter will be busy for us.

Well, yeah, but since Venus reappeared in the evening sky, I've had pretty much only had one thing on my mind.

I've seen the Sun Gun, but worried about the size becoming like a "sail" if there's even the tiniest breeze. I like the funnel idea - Paulie, let me know if you want to go in on getting some of the material needed for that. Or can we use what Rich has? Either way, don't need much!

I was thinking the same thing. I think it's a single plastic spider vane holding the secondary. Get that just a leetle bit out of collimation, and watch it melt, and bye, bye secondary.

Interesting concept, though.
