NASA Administrator Griffin's Statement on Cooperation With Russia

The following is a statement by NASA Administrator Michael Griffin on Congress passing an amendment to the Iran Nonproliferation Act.

"NASA appreciates the efforts of Congress to resolve restrictions placed on our partnership with Russia. Congress' action helps to ensure the continuous presence of U.S. astronauts on the International Space Station. The legislation passed by Congress reflects the U.S. government's continuing commitment to nonproliferation objectives but also recognizes the value of international cooperation in space exploration."

When you remember how we felt about each other 30 or 40 years ago, it's amazing how our attitudes have changed.

I remember as a young lad, following the Apollo/Soyuz joint mission. The effort was really of no scientific value or exploration, but the handshake across the hatches was rather cool.

Two old astronauts and the leftover parts of the Apollo mission was put to good use I say.
