 Upcoming Star Party
« Thread Started on Jun 18, 2004, 11:04am »

Hi Gang,

I thought I would let everyone know that on the 26th of June Triton will have a Sky Watch and Scopes afterwards. To get into the show its $5.00 and lasts an hour. Well worth the money. Then after the show if its nice outside the scopes will be out in the field. Yes the cannon will be there. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

I hope to see you guys there. Now noone can say I didnt give enough notice. lol Maybe we can have a small Chicago Astronomers Star Party. Just a thought.

Becky

You know, I was just going to mention this! I got my Associates from Triton, as it is walking distance from my house, and I still go there every once in a while for classes that I can transfer. And I grabbed one of those flyers they have with the dates of events taking place and I was going to mention this one, but the flyer thingy is lost in my car somewhere (in the black whole that is the back seat of an 85 Caprice).

I'll be there for sure. And because I am a student this summer (DeVry wants me to take Ethics....sheeeesh....) I get in for free with my Triton ID. hehehe So yeah, I'll be free that night and I shall stop by.

You know, I was there every night all week long during the Mars thing. I wonder if I may have met you and/or your husband during that time.

Hey ND,

When we were at Triton for the Mars stuff we were (looking from the building) on the far left. Our van was right by us. We have a tall antenna on it. We were the only ones with a vehicle right by us. The night the news reporter was there we arrived just after they left. We are there every month for the sky watch. If you do go look for me.
We'll have fun.

Will do. You and your husband like green tea? I'll supply the drinks and you let me take a gander through that monster I saw in the picture.

See? This is teamwork. 90% chance I'll make it, so I hope to see you there.

Hi ND,

Coffee for me. Pepsi For Bill. You most certainly can have a look throught that monster. It wont cost you a thing though. If you get there before the show starts just look for me near the office by the star store. We normally get there about 7:00 P.m. Cant wait to meet you there.

That Saturday is active for me, but if I get back in time, I will certainly make the event.

It will be nice to meet you Becky and your monster scope. And Brian can serenade us with a song...perhaps "UFO's in my bathtub".

I wont bring my scope, as the views there will be more than sufficient.

1930hrs it is.

I'll be up in Milwaukee Friday night till Saturday morning, then I'll be in the recordiong studio all day Saturday, but I should get out early enough to get to Triton (the college not the moon) and I hope to see you guys there.

Just wish me luck that everything in the studio goes well with the song we need to record.

I'll be there, anticipating my first views thru the cannon. What will the first target be?

We'll take some pics and put them up.

See you Saturday evening.

Hey Guys,

Well Last night was fun. Everyone showed up. Joe has pics of us by the scope. I hope you both had a good time. It was a pleasure meeting you both. We had some haze but I hope Joe got the idea of the scope. I know Nancy had a good time looking through it. She made my night when she saw the moon up real close and said "Oh my god" Thats why I do Star Parties. That makes me happy. I just wish I could have had gotten a pic of her face when you guys saw it for the first time. We will have to do this again soon but under better skies with no haze. Maybe for a Meteor Shower.

I'll post a detailed summary of the Triton Star party soon...along with the pics of the event. I had a great time all around, but we had to leave earlier than I wanted.

The cannon was a treat...along with Becky's ancillary toys. I thank Becky and her husband Bill in setting up for the Triton people...and for the mosquito repellent!

More soon.

Hey Joe,

I am glad you had a good time. We try to have everything we nweed when we go. Who kows what your going to run into and knowing rain was coming and the bugs are worse before the rains. We'll have to have a priviate Star arty out here in Darker skies one night so you can see what this cannon can do. I am sorry for the haze. I was really looking foward to showing you some nice views as they were all so close to the moon and Jupiter. Maybe next time.
